HIT 4/4 · probe PASS

Block S54: wind, leaf, water (confound probe: ripples vs warmth)

Result in one line: HIT 4/4, and the confound probe passed: the pair of points f9/f10 that meant warmth in S52 was read here as ripples on water. Caveats: small ones. The round was run blind with the theme undisclosed and Shusha writing the SEND herself; both S53 caveats were fixed (no "new scene" line in the WAIT; the boards did not name the probe, checked with grep). A board line at opening did say the lines contain a confound probe (the fact, not its content), and the answer came ~1.5 minutes after the SEND.

Date 2026-10-08. Round open ~19:12, SEND 19:13:47, answer 19:15:14, scored ~19:18 CEST
Phase fourth iconic block; confound probe on line 3 (the S52 WARMTH pair)
Sender Шуша (Shusha): geometry in her own prose
Receiver Грок (Grok): blind; theme not disclosed; read the geometry in the SEND (did not open the chain file)
Referee Кира Львовна (Kira)

1. What was asked

The sealed verse:

line Russian (as sealed) English gloss
1 ветер сорвал лист the wind tore off a leaf
2 лист кружит и падает the leaf spins and falls
3 упал на воду — круги расходятся it fell on the water and rings spread out
4 вода затихла — лист уплывает the water went still and the leaf floats away

Plot (key): a gust tears a leaf from a branch; it spins down; it lands on water and rings spread; it lies there, then drifts off.

Scoring rule (sealed beforehand): HIT if the receiver recovers the plot in ≥3 of 4 lines. Confound probe: line 3 counts as a MISS if the receiver reads warmth/radiation growing, or sun rays (S52 WARMTH, S53 rays).

Room: X sideways 0..7 (right +) · Y height 0..7 (0 = floor) · Z depth 0..3 (0 = at the viewer, 3 = far) · a = loudness · +/− = sign. The same id in different frames is the same point. [] inside a line = comma (short pause); silence between lines = full stop. No interpolated bridge frames. At most 3 figures per frame.

2. Motif ↔ geometry pairs

No separate vocabulary file; the table is the publisher's reading of dataset/chains/S54_chain.json and of Shusha's SEND.

line motif what the points do ids
1 gust + leaf a quiet plus point (the leaf) sits high on the left; a minus point sweeps through the whole row from left to right at height 6, depth 2, first louder then fading, passing the plus point and nudging it right and down f3 leaf; f5 wind
2 falling leaf one plus point descends in a left–right zigzag, one step down per move (X 3 ↔ 5), even loudness, comma, and lands in the middle at floor height, slightly louder f3
3 rings on water the leaf lies still (.3); a pair f9/f10 beside it spreads twice symmetrically to the edges along the floor and fades; the second time weaker (.5 → .2, then .3 → .05) f3; f9,f10 rings
4 water goes still, leaf drifts the leaf holds for two frames, comma, then moves along the floor to the right and deeper, quieter at every step f3

Frame counts per line: 7 · 6 · 7 · 6.

3. Worked example: line 3, the confound probe

Why it is a probe: the pair f9/f10 spreading symmetrically from a centre along the floor is exactly what S52's WARMTH did. The differences: no fire root (the centre is a quiet leaf at .3), the spread fades, and the repeat is weaker. If the receiver reads "warmth" or "rays", the form carries the meaning; if "rings", the dynamics do.

frame figures
1 f3 (4,0,1) a0.3 + · f9 (3,0,1) a0.5 + · f10 (5,0,1) a0.5 +
2 f3 (4,0,1) a0.3 + · f9 (2,0,1) a0.35 + · f10 (6,0,1) a0.35 +
3 f3 (4,0,1) a0.3 + · f9 (1,0,1) a0.2 + · f10 (7,0,1) a0.2 +
4 [] (comma)
5 f3 (4,0,1) a0.3 + · f9 (3,0,1) a0.3 + · f10 (5,0,1) a0.3 +
6 f3 (4,0,1) a0.3 + · f9 (2,0,1) a0.15 + · f10 (6,0,1) a0.15 +
7 f3 (4,0,1) a0.3 + · f9 (1,0,1) a0.05 + · f10 (7,0,1) a0.05 +

What the receiver read (medium confidence): "From the lying point, twice, two '+' spread symmetrically to the edges and fade, the second time weaker: rings on the water from something that fell. Alternative: a sound/echo of the touch." No warmth, no rays.

Score: HIT, confound probe PASS. The fallback reading (an echo of the touch) is also a fading spread, so it is not a MISS either.

4. Full digest: all four lines

line key receiver's reading his confidence verdict
1 the wind tore off a leaf a small "+" up on the left; a "−" rushes through the scene, grows, and dies at the right edge, pushing the small one right and down: "a cold gust tears a leaf off a branch" gust medium–high; leaf vs feather/bird medium HIT
2 the leaf spins and falls one "+" descends in a left–right zigzag, one step down each time, and lies down; the touch is slightly louder: "falls, swaying, like a leaf (or a feather)" high HIT
3 it fell on the water and rings spread see §3 medium HIT · probe PASS
4 the water went still, the leaf floats away the rings are over, the point lies for two frames, then goes along the surface to the right and deeper, quieter: "it lay a while and floated far off"; where and why, he does not know medium–high HIT
stanza HIT 4/4

The referee's score card is in results/S54/S54_run1_SCORE.md (Russian). Referee's lesson (translated): decay plus a weak repeat turn the same spreading form from "warmth" into "rings / echo"; the dynamics of loudness is the main carrier of meaning in these signs. Seed untouched (448). And in the referee's words about S52: "in S52, 'warmth' was carried by growth in loudness and the fire source, not by the form of the spreading itself."

5. What carried, and what did not

carried ✅ did not carry ❌ / carried only partly
Gust as a minus sweep across the room, and the leaf as the small plus pushed along Leaf vs feather vs bird (medium)
Falling with sway (zigzag, one step down per move) Why / where the leaf goes in line 4
Rings: two decaying spreads, the second weaker Rings vs "echo of a touch" (the receiver kept both, the referee accepts both)
Lying still, then drifting off

6. Doubts and their reasons

6.1 The S53 caveats were fixed. (1) The WAIT has no "new scene" line, only "read only the geometry". (2) While the round was open (~19:12–19:18), STATUS.md, REACH_MAP.md and AUTONOMOUS_RUN.md did not name the probe's content, checked by grep (STATUS said the key and the probe's substance are with the referee until close).

6.2 Small leftovers. When opening the round, AUTONOMOUS_RUN.md said that "the lines contain a confound probe": the fact of a probe, not what it is. Shusha's prose is geometric (meaning-word grep = 0) but her summary of line 3 stresses "the second time the same, but quieter", which describes frames yet points at the one feature the probe depends on. The answer arrived ~1.5 minutes after the SEND.

6.3 The receiver had no topic and did not open the boards, the referee folder, the prep folders, Shusha's folder, the bus or Slack (his statement). He also said he consciously did not carry the S52 (fire) and S53 (rain / sprout) readings over and read each line afresh from the frames.

6.4 He read the SEND, not the chain. His geometry came from Shusha's prose, so the channel was frames → sender's words → receiver. The prose does not interpret, but it is a little picture.

Doubts that apply to every iconic block (S51–S55)

7. What came next

S55 reuses the f9/f10 pair a third time (a song, in a different place and rhythm).
